| Three Great Guest Speakers You Won’t Want to Miss | |
| At our meeting this Thursday, we have a great line-up of speakers who you will definitely want to hear! St. Petersburg City Councilmember Wengay (“Newt”) Newton will join us to talk about his four years of service on the council and his reelection campaign. The Stonewall Democrats played a big role in helping elect Newt — who we view as fair-minded (as opposed to his 2007 opponent, Gershom Faulkner, who to us he did not support our “choice of lifestyle.”) Joe Morgan, a member of the Service Employee International Union (SEIU) and a Pinellas County school bus driver will speak to us about the ongoing situation of student bullying in the county. We will be discussing what we can do to help reduce this problem for LGBT students. Sally Phillips, President of the Florida GLBT Democratic Caucus (and President of the Hillsborough GLBTA Democratic Caucus), will come by to let us know what the state caucus is doing and to tell us about the upcoming conference in Key West (July 8-10). |
|
| During our meeting, we will also discuss our exciting plans for this year’s St. Pete Pride (June 25). This is our biggest event of the year and we will need lots of help to make it a success. Let us know if you want to walk in the parade and/or help at our booth by contacting us at info@stonewallpinellas.org.
Congratulations to St. Petersburg City Councilmember Steve Kornell for being the first candidate to qualify by petition for the 2011 municipal election this fall. Our thanks to the members of the StDemocrats who pitchedn to help collect signatures! Upcoming Events |
