Stonewall Democrats of Pinellas County

LGBT Democrats, and allies, advancing equality for all…

Pro-Equality Democrats elected in St. Pete and Largo!

With your help, we WON!

Last night we had several victories in St. Petersburg and Largo!  Steve Kornell and Wengay Newton were both re-elected to the St. Petersburg City Council and will be joined by Charlie Gerdes who won the District 1 seat.
Congratulations to these great pro-equality public servants!

We also made history in Largo!  Anti-equality incumbent Mary Gray Black, who has served stints on the Largo City Commission since the 1970′s where she championed anti-equality causes, was unseated by Michael Smith!  Not only has Mary Gray Black been replaced, but she’s been replaced by someone who represents everything she has championed against.   With your help, we have sent a message to Largo that anti-equality views are not going to be accepted. Michael will give a “new voice” to the residents of Largo, and we look forward to this tremendous change!

Pinellas County now has three openly-LGBT elected officials who are members of the Stonewall Democrats of Pinellas County:  St. Petersburg City Councilman Steve Kornell, Treasure Island Commissioner Gail Caldwell, and now a Largo City Commissioner Michael Smith!  Because of your votes, support, and hard work, we also have many allies!
